RESOURCES

A list of my favorite mental health resources, as well as things I find useful for chronic illness. I’ll be adding to this page frequently, so if you have any mental health and anxiety resources that you love and would like to see here, please contact me about adding something to the list.

Mental Health Resources

HELPLINES & MENTAL HEALTH CHARITIES

Therapy for Black Girls  – Online space encouraging the mental wellness of Black women and girls; referral tool to find a therapist in your area.

Open Path Collective – Listing for affordable therapists.

The Loveland Foundation – Financial assistance to Black women & girls seeking therapy.

NYC Well  – Offers a text service as well as a helpline with mental health clinicians.

Mind – The mental health charity.

An extensive list of resources – An entire list of resources for the Black & African American community

PROGRAMS & E-BOOKS

Freedom from Chronic Pain  – As someone with Rheumatoid Arthritis I loved this course, it helped with both physical and emotional pain.

TREATMENT & THERAPY SERVICES

Hypnosis Downloads – There are all kinds of useful hypnosis downloads for Social Anxiety on here, from hypnosis for speaking in groups all the way to blushing.

Free Therapy Worksheets – I’ve used these a lot myself, especially when my therapy ended and I needed more worksheets.

7 Cups Of Tea – Free online and confidential chat with therapists and trained listeners.

iPrevail – Free online peer counseling.

BlahTherapy – Free to talk to strangers or a 7-day free trial to talk to online therapists. You can take a questionnaire and get matched to a therapist for your specific needs.

NETWORKING

Gudune Therapy – This is my therapy practice Facebook page. I wanted a more positive and friendly space to talk about mental health and a place we could uplift each other and help each other achieve our goals.

DailyStrength –  A social network of support groups and forums for all different kinds of struggles. I used this website every day and it really helped my depression.

Social Anxiety Support Forums – I’ve been a member here for years, and I love it.

Psych Central – Online network where you can find articles about all different kinds of issues.

BOOKS

Hardcore Self Help: F**k Anxiety: Volume 1 – I love any anxiety resource that isn’t boring and overly medical, that’s why I created this blog in the first place, so an anxiety book with swearing and humor that still gets the job done? hell fucking yes.

Breaking Mad: The Insider’s Guide to Conquering Anxiety – A book that actually gets it and is fun to read!

The Deepest Well: Healing the Long-Term Effects of Childhood Adversity  – A favorite that I recommend to clients. It’s always refreshing to read something about childhood adversity that looks at how poverty plays a role as well.

APPS

Thrive Mental Wellbeing – A lovely calming app that you can use on any device including a PC that helps you track your mood and gives you exercises to reduce stress/anxiety and low mood.

Headspace – Meditation App

Pacifica – Helps with stress and anxiety. Based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy techniques.

MindShift – Anxiety tool for teenagers and young adults
